It was a great experience for our Events Team to be part of the Loughborough Half Marathon for the first time this Spring.
Having been asked by the organisers to provide post-event massage for competitors, it was certainly a busy day for our therapists and good marathon weather helped everyone leave with a smile on their face.
As usual, when we work at events like this, the Leicester Marathon and Action Challenge Events, we always finish the day with a lot of respect for the people that took on the challenge. treating people within minutes of the finish gives us a clear idea of the level of determination and commitment they have had to put in during the event.
The grimacing and other facial expressions on the runners’ faces during those final few meters showed pure dedication to their personal challenges, the charities and the supporters on the day.
A great place to soak up the atmosphere
We were set up close to the finish line, which not only was a great place to soak in the atmosphere, but also a great place to show the supporters we were there to help those running.
After listening to their stories, it would be safe to say a lot of people took the Loughborough Half Marathon on as a guideline as to how they would perform during the London Marathon so we all hope their day went well last weekend.
There was also quite a few half marathon beginners who have used the Loughborough Half as their starting point. As many beginners have found at various events, some were certainly in need of our attention and support after their race.
It was a busy afternoon in the Function Jigsaw massage tent which gave plenty of the students we had, as part of our partnership with Loughborough College, the opportunity to put their skills into practice.
Thanks for having us.
