Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. Physiotherapists take a holistic approach and work in partnership with their patients, involving them in their care in order to promote recovery and stay well.
At Function Jigsaw, we specialise in the management of musculoskeletal conditions, meaning we can help anyone with joint, bone, muscle or soft tissue injuries. This can include but is not limited to:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Shoulder pain
- Sports injuries
- Work related pain or injury
Physiotherapy not only improves your physical activity but we also help with injury prevention, health promotion and physical health lifestyle advice. We work with you to achieve your goals, whether that be walking the dog or completing a marathon.
Physiotherapists consider the entire body to help promote tissue healing, improve mobility and quality of life and reduce pain and stiffness. This is often achieved through a variety of manual therapy/hands on techniques, exercise prescription, movement, education and advice.
What to expect from your physio therapy appointment?
If you’ve never seen a Physiotherapist before, read below to find out what to expect.
Initial Assessment
An initial assessment is designed for anyone with a musclskeletal problem who hasn’t yet been to Function Jigsaw or is experiencing a new area of pain or concern. In order to provide a world class service and ensure sufficient time to form a strong collaborative approach, these appointments usually take between 45 minutes to an hour.
Our physiotherapists will thoroughly discuss your symptoms, along with any concerns or anxiety you may have about them, complete a thorough examination and discuss their findings with you. An agreed plan of action, treatment goals and program will then be formulated together.
Follow Up Treatment
A follow up appointment typically lasts for half an hour although hour appointments are available depending on the nature of the concern.
During these sessions, your physiotherapist will check how you are progressing, complete relevant evidence-based treatments such as joint mobilisations, soft tissue techniques or acupuncture, teach and progress exercises as required and offer any further advice and reassurance. We will also provide you with self-management strategies in order to enable you to take back control of your symptoms.
We are based in Wigston, Leicester. For more information and booking, please call us today to book a physiotherapy appointment with our sports therapists on 0116 340 0255.
