What are the best tips in these conditions?
It might seem obvious but piling on a few extra layers is a great way to stay warm, especially if you have to be outside. Keeping your core warm is especially important when temperatures dip below freezing.
Eating healthy in the winter is important to fight off colds and the flu, but did you know it might help keep you warm too?
Eating healthy fats during the winter can help you rev up metabolism, which in turn heats the body.
Try eating soups, spicy foods, hot drinks and casseroles to keep that chill off.
Hypothermia, is worst case scenario. Hypothermia is when the body temperature drops to abnormal low temperatures and can make you really ill. It is most likely to begin in the hands and feet, so keeping your toes warm is important. Whether you are walking to work or just around the block, or even de-icing the car, make sure to wear sturdy, insulated shoes that will keep your feet dry and in addition help reduce the risk of slipping.
Listen to your body, if you are starting to feel ill with symptoms such as headaches, runny nose, shivering, sore throat, coughing and sneezing or light body aches think about resting and addressing your immune system. When you start to feel these symptoms, it is important to act quickly to help speed up your recovery and get back to normality as soon as possible.
