The difference between winning and losing in sport is often down to the finding that extra ‘one percent’ that coaches and players talk about all the time.
There is a constant search for the little extras that sportsmen strive for all of the time to get themselves ahead of the competition.
Having worked with elite sportsmen and women since the company’s inception, the Function Jigsaw team know all about the extra one per cent that can be the difference between winning and losing.
And with MD Julie Hayton having been involved in the management of Leicester Tigers RFC medical services while they were winning honours and dominating the English rugby scene, she has been perfectly-placed to know exactly what makes the difference between success and near misses in sport.
“It was really interesting and had well-delivered subject material.” – Martin Flanagan
Julie and the Function Jigsaw team have devised a course which enables them to impart that knowledge in a series of seminars, talks and practical demonstrations to gives attendees the background to go and achieve that extra ‘one percent’ they crave.
Adaptable to any sport, Function Jigsaw’s ‘One Percenters’ course, gives theoretical and practical advice to enable sports men and women to find an extra edge in their training and performance.
The course is driven by knowledge gained from working with elite athletes and Olympians from sports like rugby, football, motor sport, cycling and winter sports.
If you or your team are looking for the marginal gains that could increase your level of performance, this course is for you.
The ‘One Percenters’ will include.
– Presentation on Movement Dynamics to help improve performance.
– Event/match recovery advice.
– How to use swimming pools, ice baths, hot bath and massages to your advantage.
– Nutrition tips and advice.
– Practical recovery session with FJ’s Active Kit.
– Questions and Answer session for each section.
– Food and snacks to fit in with the theme of the day.
Alongside that, Function Jigsaw will be showing practical equipment used for their functional movement screening programme of athletes from all walk of life, as well as their Active Kit range of stock used for training, warm-ups and warm-downs.
Function Jigsaw recently delivered the course – aimed specifically at cyclists – at Giant Bikes HQ in Leicestershire. The day included a ride out with the Team Bottrill riders.
Some of the feedback from the event was as follows:
“I really enjoyed the day. Knowing how complicated the body is, I felt everything was explained in an easy-to-understand way. It was really interesting and had well-delivered subject material. I would come to a future event.” – Martin Flanagan
“My overall impression of the day was of one that was well prepared and well presented. Julie’s presentation style was perfect for that type of event and she got her messages across very well, including some interesting myth busting. Tom’s use of an audience member in his demonstration was particularly interesting and his post-ride stretching session was also first class.” – David Cook
“I found the day to be very informative, and thoroughly enjoyable. The team are clearly very experienced in what they do, not only in sports injury but also nutrition and I was surprised with their knowledge of cycling, which was unexpected given the company covers such a broad spectrum of sports. The personal assessment I received highlighted areas of weakness and imbalance, and I was shown a number of foam roller exercises to help improve these areas.” – Charles Taylor
“I really enjoyed it. Learning the importance of stretching was the main thing I learned from the day, something I knew about but have not taken much notice of.” – Graham Green
