Function Jigsaw worked Leicester Marathon this October for the 2nd year. We were the exclusive sports massage providers for the 4000 participants of the Leicester Full and Half Marathon Runners raising money for LOROS Hospice. The event grows every year with increasing numbers of participants and this year it was overwhelming being part of such a well organised and fun day for all.
The team of therapists enjoyed being part of the event and thrive off the benefits of pre and post sports massage.
Function Jigsaw really respect the people that take part in the challenge of a full or half marathon raising money for their chosen charities. The picture on participants face passing the finish line described it all and it was amazing to be a part of their experience. Each runner had a different story of what their challenge was and what they have gone through mentally and physically.
It was clear when some of the runners walked/hobbled into the tent the effort that was put in on the day. Post event sports massage was utilised by a lot of the runners on the day with amazing feedback. A lot of the runners mentioned it was a ‘love hate experience when receiving their massage’.
Sports massage following an intense event such as a marathon helps with lactate recovery, blood circulation, muscle soreness and areas of tightness.
It is always satisfying to see such short-term effects of a quick post-event sports massage from when the runner gets on the massage bed to when they get back off.

It was good to see teams of all charities taking part in the event organised by LOROS hospice especially one of FJ’s supporting charities; Matt Hampson Foundation.
It was a very busy but successful afternoon in the Function Jigsaw tent, the atmosphere all round was brilliant, the weather was ideal for the runners and Function Jigsaw are proud to have been involved in helping raise money for such a good charity.
It is events like this that the FJ events team look forward to each year and is an inspiration to those working.
