It was wonderful to be part of the Leicester Marathon for the first time on Sunday, writes Jess Warrington.
I have a lot of respect for the people that took on the challenge of a half or full marathon and the level of commitment from those intrepid athletes was obvious as they came through the finish line.
The pain was etched into their faces. Some were struggling to walk – or hobble. Listening to their stories, as we aimed to ease their pain a bit in the massage tent, was a stark reminder of the battle of mind over body that lots of people went through on the streets of Leicester, up to Thurmaston and back again.
You are all heroes and we salute your endeavour and achievement.
We had a busy afternoon in the Function Jigsaw massage tent which also saw us carry out some injury management to runners who had picked up issues along the way.
The weather was ideal for a marathon and, by the end of the day, we had families sitting on the chairs outside our tent soaking up glorious sunshine while we treated their loved ones inside.
A day to remember at the Leicester Marathon
The atmosphere around the finish line was great – like it always is at events like this. The attitude and application of the and runners, families and support staff all made it a day to remember and an inspiration to those of us working.
Thanks from us all at Function Jigsaw to everyone who came to see us at the Leicester Marathon and to the wonderful people at LOROS who have been superb to work with.
